2006 Sewer Treatment and Waster Water Environmental Trends Discussed
One of the greatest assets in this present period for any civilization are the sewer treatment plants. Filtering out the harmful human waste, industrial waste and pollution, which ends up in our sewer system must be cleaned and treated properly to maintain a healthy environment and water supply.
In 2005 we discovered that much of the treated wastewater we release contains things, which we are not able to filter out. Additionally urban run off is putting more and more problematic nitrates, chemicals, substances, pollution and biological contaminants into our streams, rivers and lakes, which lead to our oceans.
Some of the biological contaminants which go through the sewer systems are making it all the way through and thus researchers and scientists who monitor these things are looking at new and innovative ways to solve the ecology problems we are causing by this wastewater. Urban runoff is also an issue and can and is causing harm to fish, sea life and causing algae blooms, which can become toxic and poisonous to most organic life.
In 2006 we will see the wide spread use and installing of additional bioremediation in our filtration of water using UV light. Many cities will begin requiring clarifiers on the property lines to separate out the oils, chemicals and contaminants before they enter the storm drain systems. We will see more use of Timed release encapsulation of environmental chemical cleaning agents and the use of bacteria to eat hazardous waste. We will see new and improved frequency use to help farm crops grow and scare off insects and less use of fertilizers. We will also see animal waste solutions, such as turning the waste into energy through biomass energy production rather than allowing it into giant pools where a flood can sweep into rivers, causing high concentration of protein enriched waste fostering harmful bacteria growth. We will see all this in 2006.

Having Great Expectations Is One Way to Start Dating Fun People
Now, I couldn’t characterize myself as downright satisfied being bored with most men (who isn’t?) and be 100% truthful. But, I’m not unsatisfied in that way, either. I only bring it up on the blogosphere as an intriguing piece of info introducing what I will shortly discuss honestly.
A week ago today I was walking the dog, Sandy, considering buying a membership to a dating service for Phoenix singles. As of this minute, I stand to you as a surprisingly pleased member of the singles network. No kidding, it’s true. I like it! If you have read my old blog, you’re probably thinking, “You got some ’splainin to do, Lucy!”
Here’s how it went down, I looked at this Great Expectations Dating site and felt encouraged. They’re for the honest singles who think dating doesn’t have to be so frivolous and stupid.
Because in all honesty I’d never enjoyed or even tolerated what a lot of singles have named “dating.” I heard it more than you know. Day and night people nagg, “Are you seeing somebody?” and “You should date!”
“That’s rubbish,” I reply, smiling ear to ear. “Not after that last blind date you set me up on.”
“You’re as ridiculous as you are hilarious,” they reply. “That’s just an excuse for your cynicism.”
Thankfully, that’s my partner in crime The One-And-Only (hehe) Stacey Wilson. She pours reality to my mind to put me back on course. Loved ones you can trust for fresh advice. Can’t argue with that, so I signed up.
Back to the meaning of this essay. As I selected from hundreds of outfits (hah) and desirable, honest singles for my first date with Great Expectations, something occurred to me that was quite honest. For years, I hadn’t entertained too many literal great expectations for dating and myself in the fun-filled journey of this world. Single life has its perks, only with healthy optimism. Holding great expectations works terrifically for a caring soul.

Is An Old Home for You? - The Cons - Repairs
So you think you might like to buy an old home? Perhaps even something old enough to be historic? It’s a good idea to carefully evaluate the pros and cons before you decide. There are plenty of both. Will the pros be valuable enough for you to be willing to cope with the cons? Where shall we start? With a cautionary tale, I think.
The Cons of An Old Home
In 1972, my husband and I bought a house built in about 1825. We moved in on August 15th. My husband had an out of town business meeting and left about 5 AM the next day. (What makes him so smart?) About an hour later, I started downstairs and flipped the switch to turn on the chandelier in the downstairs hall. Boy did I get light. There was a flash, and then what looked like lightening ran up the cord. I turned the switch off, but the fireworks continued. I ran and yelled for our sons (10 and 11 years old at the time). We got out a door off another hall and ran to our next door neighbor’s house to call the fire department. (This is a very exciting way to meet one’s new neighbors.) The fire department was really fast and got to our home before we got back ourselves.
By the time my husband returned late that evening, we had been visited by not just the fire department, but also an electrician (old wiring needed to be reworked and a fuse box replaced with circuit breakers), a painter (to get a price on fixing water and fire damage), and a floor refinisher (same reason as the painter), and both our sons had been offered marijuana. (Did I mention that beautiful old houses are often located in intercity areas and sometimes the whole neighborhood has not yet been completely restored to its original state of gentility?) We were asking ourselves, “What have we done?”
Well, we had the wiring fixed, put off having the floors worked on and did the painting ourselves. We also paid tuition and fees to keep the boys in their old school district.
You have to be flexible to happily live in an old house. Nothing is a standard size. Right angles are purely coincidental. (The water damage mentioned above had showed us that the floor on the outside edge of the front hall is about six inches higher than floor on the far side of the living room.) Go to Lowes or Home Depot to buy a standard replacement this or that? Forget it. You’re probably going to have to fabricate it yourself or have it done. You need to either have a large home maintenance budget, be prepared to invest a lot of “sweat equity” or both.
We’ve lived in this same old house for over thirty years now. Items we’ve had adventures with include:
1. Plumbing,
2. Bringing in more electricity,
3. Replacing the heating system,
4. Repointing the chimneys,
5. Having dampers made for the chimneys so heat doesn’t escape from them when they’re not in use (did I mention we have four working fireplaces?),
6. Increasing the insulation, and
7. Painting many, many times.
Our house is real wood, not vinyl, and the roof is standing seam tin - the original roof. That, of course, means there is a lot of surface to paint, and, since the house is two stories and has high ceilings, some of the surfaces are pretty high. (Did I mention that my husband has fallen off the roof twice?) We’re in the process of having our home painted (not a do it yourself project this time) yet again. The bids we got ranged from $15,000 to $20,000. (Did I mention you need a larger maintenance budget with an old house?)
Whew! I think the cons are clear, don’t you? Owning an old home is wonderful. Just make sure you understand what you are getting into.
Least Expensive FL Auto Insurance Coverage Quotes
State Requirements
- Bodily Injury Liability (BIL): $10,000/$20,000 Limit
- Property Damage Liability: $10,000 Limit
The state of Florida complies with a No-Fault auto insurance system which means that your insurance firm will make payments for your injury claims disregarding fault, up to a certain limit. Since nobody is found to be at fault, you end up losing some of your rights to take legal action with a no-fault system. Details of a no-fault system deviate by state.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) in your insurance policy helps pay for “reasonable and necessary” medical/hospital expenses for you and any passengers involved in the accident. In Florida, all drivers are required to cover PIP auto insurance policy of $10,000 to cover one person caught up in the auto accident and $20,000 for all people involved in the auto accident.
Underinsured Motorist auto insurance policy is for when you are involved in an accident with a driver who does not maintain auto insurance in Florida at all, or doesn’t have enough auto insurance coverage to cover damages. The state of Florida does not require motorists to keep this coverage, but you should evaluate obtaining this useful auto insurance coverage.
The average auto insurance premium for Florida motorists was $1,104 in 2003; the U.S. usual was $914. There are some incorrectly think Florida and auto insurance underwriters determine the rates they pay, so they never shop around for lower rates. Each auto insurance company has a slighly different process of figuring a person’s auto insurance premium so costs will deviate from person to person. You need to watch to find out if you are saving money or overpaying. Insurance websites help you check the discounted rates available in Florida, so average Floridians can get a better-than-usual low rate on their auto insurance coverage.
In 2007, there was an mean reduction of .5%-1% from 2006. This was the first decrease in insurance costs since 1999. However, these decreases were short lived as in 2008 and 2009, insurance costs again began to jump. The singular way to always have the best auto insurance is to shop and compare. insurance costs. Employing the web can help you figure if you’re paying too much for auto insurance and if you can obtain discounts.

Medical Insurance Plans for Students: What Do You Have to Understand?
One of the matters often at the bottom of the list of priorities whilst planning an education is medical insurance for college students. In The Main, most students don’t think about how they will cope with medical insurance needs. When you are in your twenties you will usually believe that you will live forever and you will not become sick.
Regrettably, this is rarely the case no matter how fit an individual may appear. Suitable health insurance isn’t just for the wealthy, it’s an absolute essential.
For students who are lucky enough covered under their parent’s insurance policy, almost all family insurance policies should cover a college student up to the age of twenty-three. For the individual who doesn’t currently have medical coverage via a parent’s plan, a crucial part in planning for college has to be getting an affordable health insurance policy.
What is fundamental in health insurance for college students? So what’s your deductible? It’s a yearly payment that must be made before any health benefits are available, comparable to an auto deductible. To illustrate, should the deductible be $500, 500 dollars must be paid prior to getting financial benefits from your plan. What’s a co-pay? When your deductible is paid, commonly for every trip to the doctor, medicinal drug, or procedure you’ll be asked to pay a pre-determined portion of the bill. This, put simply is a co-pay. What’s your area of coverage? Most plans are Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and PPA. This usually means particular specialists may be omitted from your list of health professionals and might not be included by your health insurance plan. Most programs will provide a listing of participating professionals, so be sure to take that into consideration when you select a policy. Catastrophic coverage: There may be a restriction on college student health insurance plans particularly as far as serious illnesses are concerned, and for most medical insurance policies for students, the cover is commonly significantly less than any standard health insurance policy.
And what are the limitations? Restrictions are standard in many college student medical insurance. Read over your policy to learn what your policy includes.
Have any medical insurance details nearby at all times. It is not just not possible to predict an accident or illness, they are also liable to hit at an inconvenient time. Familiarise yourself with your student health insurance policy, whether you’re included with your parent’s insurance or with your own selection of insurance.

Choosing to Die or Choosing Death by Robot
In the future thru life extension we will be able to choose when we die. There will be miracle drugs, Super Vitamin C and replacement parts such as artificial limbs, hearts, lungs and the latest and greatest robotics. Will be choose to remain 100% human or extend life thru robotic parts, merging with machines? One might choose to go natural, but as we may choose to replace parts and live to see our great, great, great, great grand children if the Earth does not fill up with too many people? Or we may choose for space colonies since there is estimated to be over 30 Billion humans on the planet by 2050.
Will death by robot become a reality? When we replace parts until we are more robot than human and at what point do we cease being human and become something else? Well it is true “choosing to die” does not currently have anything to do with robotics, but it will soon. And soon enough we will cure every disease and delete many of the accidents that happen to humans and be able to “fix them” and stop aging. Many have prophesized this and Ray Kurzweil has a number of followers of his “singularity” concept. If we stop aging thru BioTech and or changing parts that we cannot grow for some reason, then well it has everything to do with the future of robotics and the BioTech revolution merger.
Many a studier of humankind agree, that biological evolution has not kept up with the computer age and it is causing issues with our civilizations and societies, no doubt. At the same time the re-invention of society is not able to take the beast out of the human either, and we keep sweeping those innate characteristics under the carpet. Those negative aspects of the human species keep emerging over and over again. They keep popping up where we don’t want them and then refuse to address them and we make new laws against them. Sweeping them under the carpet is a real problem as we move into the future period of hyper scientific discovery.
If you were given the choice of going completely 100% human, choosing to die or Choosing Death by Robot, which would you choose? What if being human was considered inferior in the future? Are you afraid of change, caught in religious dogma or are you looking forward to the future? Think on this, as it will not be long now.

Saying “No” Could be a Better Business Decision
I love my business. I really do! It really gives me pleasure working with my clients because it gives me a special feeling knowing I am helping people get a piece of the American dream by owning their own home. And by doing so, I can make a good living. How many people can say the more people they help, the more money they make?
But there are times when I have to say “no” to more business. No, I haven’t lost my mind. Sometimes, saying “no” is the best business decision one can make. You see, because I like helping people, I feel it’s my duty to point out when a decision they want me to participate in would be harmful to them and their family. That is when I must become more than a salesman. I must become an advisor.
For example, a seller wants to sell a property, which has certain defects, yet doesn’t want to disclose those defects to the buyer. I explain why it is in his best interest to disclose the items. The seller feels disclosing the defects could affect the selling price of the home, and it could. And that is all the more reason to disclose them. And in California, the rule is you MUST disclose all known material facts. Period. I walk away because the seller is adamant about not disclosing and I tell him I won’t go along with that decision. You see, I also have a legal duty to disclose. It would have been a healthy fee, but it just wasn’t worth it to me to violate the law or my ethics!
Another example is when a potential client gets hooked up with an unscrupulous lender because he saw an advertisement about some “fantastic” loan program that no one else has with the lowest interest rate known to mankind. Again, as an advisor, you must explain how these experiences can turn into nightmares. I have seen buyers sit down to sign loan documents and find that almost nothing is as it was represented. Or worse, they do close escrow and discover that “fantastic” loan program crushes their dreams of homeownership.
Unfortunately, some folks just have it in their minds that they can and will do what they want, no matter what the very real consequences are. And, there is a hungry and not-so-honest competitor all to willing to spew out what they want to hear. Later, these unsuspecting people get their lives changed forever when they find out the rosy picture that was painted for them is not so rosy after all. This saddens me, not only for them but also for my industry because it affects us all.
If I could get just one point across it would be this–
When someone is honest enough to share words of warning with you, even though it may lose them business (and income!), stop for a moment and think “Why would they say that?” The answer could save you a lot of grief…and perhaps a lot of money, too!
