Our recent visit to Australia was wonderful. What a fabulous country. Our holiday there taught us a lot so you might find these tips handy:
For the cheapest air fare fly to Melbourne. It was the cheapest by around $175 at the time we flew.
Make sure to visit in their wintertime, our summer, unless of course you’re just going for the surfing. It’s possible to purchase tickets for $100 less in winter. It was about 70 degrees at its hottest in the south, which was fantastic weather to walk around in.
If you need maps and/or ideas for places to visit check out the visitor information centers. They are really excellent.
A leased car is a necessity! Without a doubt, you need to hire a car. It’s straightforward travel about in Australia if you do. It’s the most affordable way to get about, you can see far more and it really is fast and easy. Some sample rates:
Car hire Melbourne (far South): $36 to $71 per day.
Car rental Gold Coast (around Brisbane, the famous surf area): $34 to $60 per day.
Car hire Darwin (far North): $42 to $60 per day.
We made a beeline for car hire Melbourne at the air terminal directly after landing. Arranging the car hire only took about fifteen minutes and off we went. Melbourne’s a wonderful town for museums. We ought to know as we must have visited every single one of them. We also traveled to see the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges, about a one hour journey from Melbourne.
We travelled from Melbourne to Brisbane and headed straight for the car rental Gold Coast. We then spent some time driving, touring all over the Gold Coast. It was breathtaking, and there were loads of superb seafood dining places.
From Brisbane we flew to Darwin. That’s right! Before anything else. Contact the folks at car hire Darwin and off to Mindil Beach Sunset Market. Darwin’s much further north and the temperatures were much higher, in the 90’s, but it didn’t seem so hot due to the ocean breezes. Waiting for a taxi or coach in that climate wouldn’t have been any joy; so happy we rented a car.
I can’t wait to go back. It was a wonderful trip but there simply wasn’t time to fit everything in
